Betts wasn't ready the beginning of the season for the speed of D1 WBB. In high school she could dominate against 5'10" post players based on height alone. I also thought all season she would be much improved sophomore year and was looking forward to her progress.
The area I feel Tara could be criticized on playing time is there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it at times; particularly playing someone for two minutes and then taking them out. Pretchel is the player who might have reason to question playing time more than Betts or anyone else on the team.
Thank you. Glad someone else is finally on the Ashten was the only person with reason to complain train. I’ve been on the train all season. Ashten was drafted in the 3rd round based on 2 minutes of playing time a game (if that). Had she played starter minutes as she should have, she would have been a late 1st round pick. And she showed a lot of maturity, got two valuable Stanford degrees and still got drafted. That is the ultimate “f-u” IMO to Tara and her decisions. Ashten went from 6th player of the year to playing 0 minutes in a lot of games this year.
The irony is Ashten got screwed over to accommodate Betts and the pressure to make sure the #1 player had playing time. And by season end, Kiki even got less time to play Betts more next to Brink. And with all that, Tara still couldn’t keep Betts on the roster or even happy it seems.
And what lesson did Tara learn from all her poor decisions this year?
