It is perfectly clear from the replays that Green's apparent stomp did not put any meaningful weight on Sobonis.  He pulled it back instead of actually completing the stomp.  He then "stepped on" Sabonis the same way we pretend stepped on each other as kids, by hopping with the other foot to take the pressure off of the foot on the person.  Sabonis pulled a pure soccer player move and acted like he had been stabbed.  I would pay good money to see the supposed contusion that makes Sabonis questionable for the game on Thursday.  

That being said, I am pissed at Green for even engaging in the fake stomp.  He is rightly under more scrutiny because he has earned it by sometimes behaving like an idiot who hurts his team.  Even he admits that he cost the team the championship in 2016.  I don't think this team is remotely close to winning a championship this year and agree that the suspension is excessive.  However, I can understand that there is support for it based on Green's history.  

I hope the Warriors can straighten things out at home.  I also hope that they can win the series but my expectation is that the Kings will take it.

Yes, it's possible for the punishment to be excessive and also wish Draymond didn't respond the way he did.

There are many, many lines of grey between the black and white of acceptable and unacceptable. Like, you can drive 70 in a 65 zone. You might get away with 80, but 100 is non-negotiable punishment.

Green could have responded to the leg grab by spilling onto the floor and rolling over a couple times, grabbing his ankle like a soccer player, but that's not how he is wired.

For the record, Sabonis was not called for a foul when he deliberately grabbed Green's ankle with both arms. Sabonis was assessed a technical only after replay review. That's what is inexcusable. Maybe if Sabonis was whistled for fouling Green when he did, Green wouldn't have reacted as he did. Green knows to stop when the whistle blows. There was no whistle until Green put his foot on Sabonis. The ref in effect said "it's OK for him to grab your ankle with both arms." The ref let Sabonis poke the bear and then the NBA got upset when the bear reacted.

* I can't recall anyone ever getting a serious injury - anything that forced a player to miss a game - as a result of Draymond Green actions. Compare this to Dillon Brooks flagrantly fouling Gary Payton 2 in last year's playoffs, leading to a broken wrist, and almost kept him out of the Finals where without him the Warriors don't win. Brooks missed 1 game.
