It does not appear that there is some sort of upsurge of interest in WBB in southern California.
Then it’s like it was when I was there awhile back. You can sleep on a different row at Galen and Pauley Pavilion every quarter and not be bothered or encounter another group of fans. It took the Sparks winning a championship to even get anyone mildly interested in WBB. And Candace Parker still needed a second and third job nearly every year she played for the Sparks. Nneka keeps herself busy with the player’s association and various speaking engagements. And no one currently in Westwood has ever been as talented and phenomenal as Lisa Leslie, Parker, Nneka, Chelsea Gray, Kristi Toliver, Alana Beard and they still weren’t selling out the Staples Center regularly or at all.
LA is a tough tough market for WBB guys. I am sure they break their necks marketing way more than Stanford and it doesn’t seem to make a difference in terms of attendance. LA loves the “appearance of money” so maybe someone is earning funny money. Welp best of luck I guess.
