81Alum, I think I understand how you feel. But remember, this is all new to these athletes and to us fans. They and we need time for this to stabilize (and perhaps be regulated).
I find some pros to seem to be pretty decent, and worthy of my respect. (I grant that what I believe I know of them may not be how they really are. We've had a number of seemingly nice celebrities to be found out to be not so nice.) I find others to be worse than forgettable.
I only know you from your posts and the relatively few times we've talked at Stanford events but I'd think that if you were a 18yo sports star entering the NIL college world, you'd play the game you love and make some money doing so. You might have your ups and downs, but I'd expect you'd be the kind of person I'd cheer for. Don't you think some reasonable percentage of college athletes will focus on their sport AND school?
(Ok, now is not the time to recount all the childish & unwise things you did during college just to prove me wrong, even if the statute of limitations has run out ;-)
