College sports is now very weird with NIL, and WBB is clearly the weirdest. For many WBB players as pointed out college is now much more lucrative than going pro. Doubly so with the Russian off season money spigot turned off. And college has far, far more slots for players vs. the WNBA to boot. It has to make the incentive to cash in and brand during College immense.
I think the big question is can the influencers carry it on past WBB? Some I am sure will, but I have no idea how many of the players are interesting enough to keep things going after leaving school. For exampleClark, if she isn't transcendent in the WNBA, I think will lose earning power post-college. Even say the Cavinder twins are not a slam dunk post-College. The WWE is no guaranteed path, though WBB obviously helped open the door. They were famous even on a low tier team; so maybe they keep it going regardless. My belief though is they are going to be an exception not a rule.
