Check her TikToc and YouTube channel. Slip into her DMs. I mean, that is what a smart person would have done before they signed another LOI, right? Get a complete picture - the good and the bad - and then make a reasoned decision, not an emotional one. The grass is NOT always greener. I don’t particularly like Tara but she is not clever enough to be some evil mastermind that makes false promises to lure unsuspecting #1 players to Stanford and not play them. Betts was the first in recent memory and it was only because there was a logjam at the post position of Top 10 and Top 20 McDonalds AA post players. And Tara mentioned during the season that she wasn’t handling it well (giving people minutes on the court) and that she was the problem. I mean, nothing changed but do you think any other Top 10 coach would make such an admission? Usually a top player does not start right away but by mid-season they are either starting or playing a lot. See Chiney Ogwumike, and Chiney was a unanimous #1 player, and then #1 draft pick in WNBA. Didn’t start but played and by the next year, Tara would have played her 50 minutes a game except there are only 40 minutes in a game. Did Haley start? I wasn’t watching that year too closely. Probably only because Dijonai was injured or something like that and it wasn’t at the 4, her best position, and then she got injured. That is how Tara operates - never evolving. Hannah went from barely playing 3 years behind the Hulls to playing 40 minutes/game. Tara is very predictable.
Cori is way more clever than Tara (which admittedly, doesn’t take much) and is more of a mastermind. She will have you convinced come November that the reason you probably won’t be starting there either (or playing more than 15 min/game) is (1) your fault, and (2) Tara’s fault for not playing you more your freshman year and how her current players are much more experienced than you so should start before you. And you will believe her. Because let’s face it, from what I can tell, you will be no match for Cori.
Edited to add: If I were you, I would have chosen Notre Dame for a variety of reasons but especially the “depth” chart. We will see how it all turns out in due time. I am emotional too and would have wanted to go head to head with Stanford for the next 3 years just to show them they should have started me. But I try not to make emotional decisions and after a good night’s sleep I would have quickly concluded ND was the better option for starter minutes plus they play A LOT more zone defense in one year than UCLA will play in the next 3 years. I think that defensive scheme would be more beneficial and ensure lots of playing time plus ND just has such a fluid, lovely offensive scheme, and better track record getting “starters” to the WNBA.
This suggestion sent me down quite the rabbit hole last night. I was most fascinated by the official visit Dominique had with USC. Fancy hotel overlooking Crypto.Com arena. All of her favorite candies. And...and...and...attendance at a game against the team with whom she'd been playing just days before.
