First sweep of the year. All without an HR.  Lot of good 2 out opposite field hitting with RISP.

Speaking of the Farm, BobK and perhaps others:  I suspect you saw Wade Meckler at OSU.  He is killing it in the minors. Played Rookie and Low A last year hit over .400

Started at Eugene this year - hitting .450.  So the called him up to Richmond.

Can any of you give a scouting report?  He can hit doesn’t count. :)

With Matos off to Sacramento, Meckler was called up to Richmond.  He went 3-5 in his debut with the Squirrels.  Also, Luciano hit another HR.

Vaun Brown also is playing again. Looks to be working his way back to Richmond after stints in SJ and Eugene. I was more intrigued with him than any other prospect including Schmitt. Could we see Brown and Matos in the Giants outfield as fixtures by season’s end? 

If only the team could pitch.

Mick, are there any stats that show defensive improvement since Schmitt has been playing?

Brown has a long road ahead before he can make it to the bigs.  He is a 25 year old (next month) who has dominated leagues mostly populated by younger players. He will need to prove that he can play effectively against older competition before any further advances in his career.  Maybe by late ‘24?  Time will tell…

Matos is getting closer.  A successful full season at Sac. would definitely put him back on the radar for consideration in ‘24.  

In the meantime, the Giants are well-stocked with OFs.
