Was academic quality a criteria considered for joining the Pac-12 in the past?

This conference really is a shadow of itself with SC and UCLA leaving. Remember when Texas and Oklahoma might have joined?

All because the Pac-12 wouldn't share its tv revenue.  And now it's pointless.

There are a lot of things written 12 years ago that look silly now. The Pac will not enhance its situation by adding weak sisters that would dilute the payout. And fortunatelu, Texas was transparent about its greed at that time. Texas in the Pac would a candidate for bolting just the same as USC and UCLA.
