Hitting is part science and part art. I will choose to believe Casey Schmitt has a great foundation to be a very good ML hitter because he has shown he can hit to all fields.

My guess is he will get frustrated with his performance, realize the pitchers at the ML level have the ability to control location more, and change his approach.

Here’s a look at Schmitt so far a month into his MLB career:

He is 75th percentile in MLB hard hit ball rate and has a .323 BABIP. He just need to find a couple more of his pitches to hit per game, which he can do by being more selective, and he will be what the Giants need him to be.

Of course, I’m not sure if that is everyday 3B or SS. A lot depends on what happens with Luciano.
