At this point I'm hoping the Big 10 forms a Western Wing with Stanford,Cal/USC,UCLA/UO,UW.

It's the only thing that looks remotely palatable of the options loosely discussed.

But then no more rose bowl?

Sure, West Wing vs. East Wing.  However, more likely the Rose Bowl will permanently be part of the CF playoffs once they expand to 8 or 12 teams.
