From the College Cliffs list, Pines is intriguing. Oakland native. STEM Ed background (MechEng B.S. from Berkeley, PhD in same from MIT). Member of NAE. At 59, young and dynamic enough to have an impact. Is leading Maryland in becoming a STEM powerhouse; I dare say that if he’s still there in the next decade, Maryland will be a USNWR (the debate re USNWR’s….interesting ranking criteria can be had another time) top-30 national school. And if we’re into “box-checking”, he does that as a POC.

Only thing is that he was just appointed 3 years ago. Not sure how much/frequently university presidents move around.

My guess is quite infrequently...unless he gets a call from Stanford or another Top Five university, in which case my guess is "frequently."
