Stanford wins, 3-1.  Minnesota looked great in set 2, and Stanford a bit off.  But righted things for sets 3 & 4.

Stanford actually hit pretty well in set 2 but Minnesota hit better.  I'd be curious to know what we did to shutdown Minn's attack after that.  Wucherer had 5 kills in that set.  In the set, Stanford had 2 aces (average for this match) and 5 service errors (the other sets averaged 3.3)

13 blocks for the match probably helped to shut down their attack.  Stanford had only 1 block in the 2nd set.


For those that whine about evening start times, maybe Stanford has an advantage for evening matches against non-West Coast times.  Minnesota (CDT) looked pretty down by set 4.

It struck me last night that all the artificial prompting for "noise" is not to enhance the team's performance but is really just for the audience. When something good happens, the monitors & PA system encourage noise.  When the team needed audience support in the 2nd set, there was little such encouragement.    (I have to remember to bring noise cancelling earbuds.)

Overall a really good weekend.  The team recovered well from the loss of a set.  Maybe they pressed too hard on their serves when they were down.  But they didn't let Minnesota back into the match after that.
