Please identify your sources for the comment, “Farhan was told to fire Gabe.”

Here's what I know:

- Farhan said all season Gabe was returning
- He then softened his stance in the last week of the season
- He fired a guy with three games to go in the season
- In his post-Gabe press time, the words Farhan used to describe him made it sound like he should be hiring him

None of this sounds like a decision made by Farhan. Maybe it was his, but I'm not convinced. And even if it is true it was Farhan's idea and he had to get approval, it only demonstrates a dysfunctional organization that doesn't allow people to be fairly judged on their performance. Boards approve contracts, not hires of anyone but the executive they oversee.

I would disagree.  I would suggest the hiring of every manager in baseball had to be approved by the Board of Directors of the respective club.  

As for the comments Zaidi made after the termination of Kepler’s contract were standard fare.  No one in his position would ever say anything negative publicly.  When asked after terminating an employee, I would always focus on the positive attributes of the individual.  There is no need to drag someone through the mud - it’s strictly business.
