I am not impressed with what has transpired thus far this spring.  While hoping for more, I’m down to between 77-82 wins.  They are missing a singular presence in the lineup and a Gausman or Rodon on the mound.

You hit the mark on the wins. Rodon didn't do much blowing away of guys this year. In exchange for his 6 year, $157 million contract, he finished 3-8 this year with a 6.85 ERA. And he's 31 next year. At least Arson Judge got in almost 2/3rds of the Yankee games (he played in 106).

Gausman finished 12-10 in 2022 and 12-9 this year. Was it worth 5 years, $112 million? He'll be 33 this year.

In terms of signing guys on the team to new contracts, Gausman stands out as the most glaring error made by Zaidi.

2022 ERA 3.35 (league average 3.88) Top Ten Cy Young
2023 ERA 3.16 (league average 4.28) Top 10 WAR, Top 5 ERA, All-Star selection. 

Yes, he was worth the contract he received.  Heck, he has exceeded the value.  

Note:  I did not advocate signing him to a new deal.  

As for Rodon, I was definitely against resigning him.  His injury history was very problematic. I don’t see him ever achieving the numbers he posted as a Giant.  

One wrong choice, one right choice.
