Good for Bochy that the Rangers are in the WS. I'm rooting like crazy for them to win the Series. Bochy has managed 26 seasons, this was his fifth best record. BTW, Bochy has the fifth most postseason wins of all managers, 53. He is four behind Dusty Baker who has 57. If the Rangers win the WS, Bochy will have tied Dusty for most postseason wins all time.
I'd love to see the Rangers win, as well, though.
Love you, too, CC. And I love the version of Bochy that wins World Series and doesn't finish 64-98... ;)
You mean the version that has some talent to work with? The version that is 13-1 sine 2010 in playoffs? The version that is 11-1 in post season elimination games since 2010. That version?
Managers without talent don’t win. I don’t care who they are.

Heard on KNBR that during today's Giant's press conference introducing Melvin, Kapler tweeted a pic of himself on a beach somewhere. If indeed true, stay classy Gabe.
What a putz.
Was coconut oil involved? Gabe might get plenty of beach time next summer…..(But I doub5bthat is true.)

I wonder how Charles Johnson and Zaidi feel about watching two former SF Giants managers manage against each other in the ALCS?
Similarly wonder how Johnson feels about Zaidi, given that he was principally responsible for selecting all the players.
Chas Johnson is in his 90’s and has no role other than his ownership interest. He’s always an easy mark, for reasons we won’t discuss. But it’s interesting to me that the media so often gets it wrong. They sometimes refers to Johnson (Greg and Chas) as “ “majority owners.” That is wrong. They own about 27%. Principal owners as they have the highest share. It’s an LLC. And while I’ve never read the operating agreement, I’m confident it has a mechanism for selecting and ousting the Chairperson. . Even if under the OO the principal owner is automatically the Chairperson, there has to be a way to oust.
So, when Greg Johnson fumbles through his speech, it’s fair to assume he’s speaking for the group. If they disagree with the direction, they could choose a new chair.
Personally, I think Greg is a lousy spokesperson. Buster would be tremendous. But I suspect one has to have a certain percentage to possibly be the Chair.
The key is who is the “control person”, a designation required by MLB that identifies the person who has the team’s vote at ownership meetings. Greg Johnson is the control person for the Giants. It is my understanding the control person is determined by a vote of the partnership. I have no idea how the voting process works.
And yes, there is a process in place that can oust the control person. For example, Bill Neukom was in charge in 2010 but subsequently had a falling out with his partners and was removed from the leadership position. And, of course, there is the infamous Larry Baer incident that resulted in his removal as the control person in favor of Rob Dean on an interim basis and then Greg Johnson. As noted the Johnson family owns less than 30% of the shares.
A reasonable guess is vote is by number of shares.
