What do you think of Sendek? Seems that he gets a lot out of the players he has. 20-win seasons three out of the last four.

Thanks, Langdude. I like Herb Sendek, a lot. Great track record, made the postseason all three years at Miami (OH), 9 of 10 years at NC State, and six of nine years at ASU, although four of the six were the NIT. Then he didn't make the postseason his first four years at SCU, though he replaced a former UCLA assistant who was allowed to coach for NINE seasons and never finished better than fourth.

I think he's an okay X's and O's coach. I think time has passed him by a bit. I think he's a terrific recruiter -- much as I like my alma mater, they don't have a lot to offer recruits other than playing time. But the transfer market was tailor-made for a coach like Sendek, six of the seven players in his rotation last night were transfers. And now he can sell that he's had two first round NBA draft choices two years in a row. So he'll do well in the mercenary market. But until either he gets better at X's and O's or hires someone who's better at X's and O's, they will fall short of Gonzaga and St. Mary's and exit in the first round of the NIT or NCAAs. We'll see how well they do against either Alabama or Ohio State a week from Saturday. CBS is ranking SCU #31. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe they're a strong team.

Candidly, I think Stanford has better basketball players. I caught myself shaking my head at stupid or inadequate things that SCU players did about 3x as much as I had that reaction to Stanford players. I really like Stojakovic, Raynaud and Jones/#13. I do think Stanford would benefit from a change in coaches.
