We don’t have to like it but we have to face it. Any school without a substantial NIL organization cannot compete under todays rules. The value of a Stanford degree is not worth $50k to $100k a year to most of the athletes who can get in here.  I also,think the value of that degree is declining in most eyes, but that is another topic.

We could compensate with an aggressive grad school program. We could get some very good fifth year players who, having NiL ed it for four years, would like to top off their education with a .Stanford graduate degree. Again, it s not a question of liking it, it’s a question of recognizing it.  Such a program could offset our weak  NIL program and give us a different crack at the talent pool.

If we don’t do something, we will not get a share of the very best players..even the very best who are interested in academics.

My opinion after a lot of thought. I would love for someone to show me I’m wrong and will even bear snubs and snide to learn I’m wrong.  BTW, I’m talking about women’s basketball recruiting here. I don’t think it’s even an issue for football , men’s  BB man’s baseball.  Only volleyball is likely to remain immune.
