We should be grading the Warriors on a curve, considering that ownership is forking over $188 million in luxury tax.  

Getting rid of Poole's contract was a good move, but it cost Baldwin and a future first round pick.  The team already has traded Wiseman and its 2024 pick as well.  As gocard noted, the team does not have an elite player after Curry, who is somewhat old.  Someday, probably not too long from now, Curry's play will decline.  When that happens, the team ideally would be able to re-build through the draft.  Trading first rounders will make that re-build more challenging.  

Although the mid-term future looks iffy, the strategy some advocated, "build for now and still avoid any need to re-build" was always somewhat unrealistic.  There always was going to have to be a downturn in the cycle.  Recent events might just make that downturn last a little bit longer.

How will wizards move on? No one else is taking that contract. If Poole is playing so poorly he can't even be a tank commander for the wizards, where can he go?

CP3 aside, just getting out of the contract was a massive win for the Ws.

Of course the bigger win would have been to not extend him and let him become an RFA. Maybe he plays better without the security of a long term deal. And the warriors could always S&T him, or if he had a bad year maybe we resign him on the cheap as a bench/trade piece.

In my opinion restricted free agency is underutilized. Teams don't want to tie up their cap space when they know a team will match their offer. Austin Reaves deserved a big contract, but instead the lakers got a steal at 4/50 since no one wanted to throw him a bigger offer.
