Of course it’s not the only way, but there are numerous ways to measure impact and several would view this as one of the greatest single seasons in history. At a minimum really freaking great. Certainly a lot better than Toby Gerhart.
Attention goes to the SEC because they have more fans and more passionate fans. It’s not bias as much as capitalism/democracy/will of the people. This creates self-reinforcing dynamics whereby the SEC gets more of the attention and more resources and I get why that’s frustrating to some fans from elsewhere. But I do think the arguments are not grounded in reality when, as has happened often the last two weeks, people try to question the claims to national preeminence of the top teams/players in the SEC. They’re really great.
