Yep. That's football. Always more fun to ice a game with a first down and your offense on the field. Maybe the bigger mistake was throwing on third down before the field goal on Washington's penultimate drive, which killed the clock and preserved a Texas timeout. It's all easy in hindsight or on PlayStation. 

The rule where Texas got to decide whether to force a ten second runoff after the injury to Johnson seemed unfair, but I guess you can't foresee all the angles when making a rule like that, which was trying to prevent fake injuries by someone out of time outs and behind.
