Just finished watching my recording of the Warrior-Nugget game.  That was a real gut-check loss to let the Nuggets come back from an 18 pt (!) deficit in the final 10 minutes.  Wow.   

Everyone had a part in the collapse - Steph made an poor pass to allow the turnover and winning basket, Chris Paul and Klay played poor defense, no one shot well and they generally acted like the game was over with 10 minutes before it really was.

The Warriors can't stand pat at the trade deadline if they don't want this season to end when the regular season does.  I know the big 3 want to go out together but no one other than Curry should be untouchable.

There was a time that the Warriors were so good that they didn't have to pay attention to fundamentals...witness their ongoing lack of concern over turnovers. Well now they're not the athletes they once were, and they've started to slip. Defense isn't as tight, passes aren't as crisp, focus gets lost on certain plays. Of the five who were largely present on the recent NBA finals teams (Curry, Wiggins, Thompson, Green and Looney), only Curry still plays at a consistent high level. Thompson and Wiggins are hit and miss. They're still strong, just not as strong, and their supporting cast is good, just not as good as they once were. Paul is good, not great. At least his shoot is coming around, but none of them defend as well as they used to.

And frankly...I wonder about Kerr. As he continues to commit to the Old Guard, he starves playing time for the young ones. As Bill Walsh used to say, better to lose a player a year early than a year late. Well, it's too late for Thompson, Green, Looney and Wiggins...at their salary range, they're untradeable, at least not for value. Even though Thompson and Paul are on expiring contracts, Looney is affordable and Wiggins has a moderate (by NBA standards) contract, I don't see any of them returning a first round pick or front line starter. Maybe a solid younger player...maybe. Based upon their 16-18 record, I would recommend that Dunleavy start initiating and listening to trade offers. They have a solid younger core that they need to build around. The only trade rumors I hear are about Kuminga, one of two athletic players on that time. The team is built like Kerr...a highly skilled team with limited athleticism. Almost all of their players fit that mold.

I have to agree - get hopping on working whatever trade(s) we can get, subito - the Dubs currently have no picks in the 2024 draft so time is of the essence.

Play Kuminga 35 minutes a night until Draymond comes back, let him boost his averages, trade him for a 1st round pick. Trade Green and Thompson with Kuminga to Detroit for their first round pick and whatever else they're willing to send. Their team is so young, they could really use Green and Thompson and Kuminga.
