What is the point of enrolling for Spring quarter and not playing for a year?  Makes no sense considering his probable talent level. Yes, he has not faced what we consider college level pitching, but Japanese high school pitchers are generally pretty darn good.

He is only 17 and likely can't be drafted until 2027. That would still give him 3 years of playing at Stanford before he goes pro. It also likely increases his chances of receiving his degree.
