This team had the talent, but self-destructed.  Draymond couldn't control his temper, Wiggins went back to not caring after getting paid, etc.  

It'll be interesting to see what lineup the team puts on the floor next year.  I don't think they can just come back with the same team they put on the floor this year and expect a substantially different result.  Sure, Kuminga is on the rise, but the core players are only going to decline with age.

The team doesn't have a first round pick this year (absent winning the lottery), so free agency and trades will have to suffice.  The team does have plenty of future draft picks as trade bait, however, if it wants to mortgage the future a bit to help the core make another run.  

Maybe I'm overly sentimental, but I sort of think Klay will come back on a reasonably priced contract to finish out his career with Steph and Draymond.  I also think Gary Payton is a pretty good fit for what the team is trying to accomplish, so I could see him returning.  

But I don't think Chris Paul wants to close his career on a team that doesn't appear to be a contender.  I'm not sure how the salary cap rules work when trading a player with a player option (like CP has), but assuming it's viable to trade CP's contract under the rules, then doing so appears to me to be the best opportunity to improve the lineup.  

As a Lakers fan, I wonder whether there's a plausible trade involving CP and D-Lo because I think the Lakers need the ball handling and defense.  I'm not sure about this from the Warriors' perspective though.  With Klay in the sunset of his career, it would be nice for Steph to have another truly legit scorer on the first team, but I can't recall whether the relationship with D-Lo from his last run on the Warriors precludes bringing him back.  Any thoughts on this?

D-Lo was awful when he was with the Warriors. Didn't seem to want to play in Kerr's system. Of course things could be different with the core players back and better young talent than in that lost year, but I'm not enthusiastic.
