Per Kate's presser, Jeannette Pohken is the new assistant coach, a promotion for her. So we now have a coaching staff of four Stanford grads plus Tempe. Will there be a new associate head coach named? If so, most likely to be Katie S. And even if not,  I'd guess there is a rank order among the assistants.

Personally, I didn't find KP's inaugural presser particularly impressive. Lots of niceties, emphasis on continuity, but little real substance. Wouldn't it have been impressive if Paye had confronted the Iriafin issue head on in an intelligent and candid way? Not to be. Lots of platitudes ("being competitive"), not much spark with one exception: her alleged comment to Professor Brady of PoliSci ("Not with that diet!"). No real indication about what her approach to coaching will be. She was unwilling to indicate any way whatsoever in which her approach to coaching the team will differ from Tara. Perhaps to be expected with Tara in the audience. Perhaps KP will open up a bit in due course.

Well, you have to cut her some slack.  I mean, it's not as if she has had very much time to give any thought to how she intends to approach being Stanford's Head Coach.  Oh, wait...

As for the Kiki situation, the way things stand right now [and I readily concede there are probably a lot of facts we don't know], it looks like it's Kyle Smith 1, Kate Paye 0.
