Wow. Yes, I wonder how the 2nd and 3rd undergraduate transfers in the history of WBB will affect team culture, but strictly on paper this was exactly what we needed. MAS is a fabulous player who can move, shoot from midrange or in close and also has three point range. She has starting experience in a major conference. She is very physical and finishes with contact. She seems good with the pick and roll. She is reputedly a very good defender, although none of the highlight reels really show her on defense. This transfer is probably more important than the other, since she will immediately step into the Kiki gap--not that she will be Kiki caliber, but she will definitely take the sting out of the loss. And, like Brooke Smith, she comes with three years of eligibility. She is just 6'2" so she is an active forward and not a towering center--I see her at the 4 in competition with Agara and maybe Demetre, and not at the 5 which will probably be Umeh or maybe Peterson or Demetre when we need more height.

Now that we have seen history made with two transfers in, we also know that Kate was given a tool by admissions that Tara was not given. Somehow Stanford policy on transfers in has become a bit more flexible. My guess is that Kate held out for this tool before accepting the job, and that she and Muir played it very close to the vest at her inaugural press conference so as not to give away to competitors that Stanford was in the hunt.
Purdue fans must be crestfallen.
