If the Warriors really do intend to duck under the luxury tax, yet not completely rebuild, then they have ~28mm combined for Paul and/or Thompson.  I think that means they have to let go of one or both of those guys, at a minimum.  

Would the remaining roster be good enough to make the playoffs considering the Warriors didn't make it this year and their core is aging?  
If even making the playoffs is unlikely, let alone contending for another title, is it time to dismantle and rebuild?
I don't think the Warriors ownership is in it to save a couple of bucks, but if they can stash away some first round picks, would they do that?
Given Curry's salary, if the Warriors wanted to trade him, could they get two first round picks as part of the return package?

The band has missed the playoffs three of the last five years, and Klay -- at best -- should be a sixth man. I think he can still do very well against backups, but he thinks of himself as a Hall of Famer. I think he has to go. 

Dunleavy gave a little clue in an interview earlier today when he said that the Warriors needed to grow from within and develop their current players. He spoke at length and in support of Kuminga, Podziemski, TJD and Moody. They're keeping Looney for a year. They have Curry and Draymond. My guess is GP2 comes back with a longer contract for less $ per year. I think Lester Quinones is highly underrated, both on offense and defense, I think he could contribute. Maybe they think Gui Santos can contribute as well. That's ten, and they're likely to lose both Klay and Chris Paul, I think. Maybe they can get someone at #52 in the draft, some 24 year old whose bloom is off the rose, a bit like TJD.
