I hate to say it but Klay leaving at this point is addition by subtraction. We will miss his scoring, but the constant sulking, drama, horrid shot selection, and overly long leash that came from his relationship with Kerr (along with Wiggins and Dray) sunk the first half of last season.
I'll forever be grateful for his role in 4 titles. I wish him the best. I hope being free of the weight of expectation from his past in golden state allows him to be the off the bench flamethrower he is best suited to be at this point.
Moving on, I liked the swing for the fences move in going for PG, but it didn't work out. I'm fine with a swing for the fences for Markannan but expect the price to be too ridiculous. I like the Melton move.
Otherwise I'm fine with keeping our powder dry and allowing the young guys to step into bigger roles. There's always another soon to be disgruntled star in the NBA. If we can boost their value enough, that makes it easier to snag a Giannis or KD or Mitchell who gets disillusioned mid season. We also may surprise some folks with what Curry, Dray, and the younguns can do.
