I see it as Stanford prepares you to be a professional X (area of study/selected sport/etc.).

It's one thing to go pro...Stanford did it's mission to prepare you for your selected career, and you are welcome to return to get your degree (Terry, Jacobsen, etc.).

It's another thing to go to another school (if NIL gold was the objective, should have signed elsewhere from the start). Stanford should not be a springboard to go to another school and then comeback. That's not Stanford's mission.

You transfer out of Stanford to go to another school, you forgo the opportunity to get a Stanford degree. Decisions have consequences, and this should be the "downside" for anyone making the decision to chase the NIL $$$.
