That link was to the Chron. I do not subscribe now but was able to read the article after closing the "25-cents to subscribe" pop-up.
 
People drop NYTimes and WSJ links in the Cardboard all the time without summarizing.  Sigh...

non-subscribers to the Times can read a limited number of free articles per month (I think 10?), so create a free account and try clicking the links. I don't know what the Chron's policy is, I suspect they allow some number of free articles which is how you were able to read the Chron article. 

Subscribers to both the Chron and The NY Times can gift 10 free articles to share a month, and the links (at least for the Times) are good for multiple users. Let me know if this gift article link for a story on Ledecky's dominance in the 1500 works for more than one of you. if so I'll try to post gift links when possible.
