Coach TT indicated in today's weekly presser that Ashton Daniels is day-to-day and might be able to play on Saturday depending on how much he improves. This might be gamesmanship with respect to this Saturday, but in any case, it was clear that Daniels did not experience any sort of season-ending foot injury (as rumored). We can infer that Daniels probably experienced a lower ankle sprain. If this is wrong and Daniels is out for an extended time, then we might as well stop listening to or believing anything that TT says about any injury.
TT's update on Jay Green was "questionable" for Saturday but considerably less optimistic in tenor and body language. This is interesting because many of us suspected a serious non-contact knee injury based on what we saw in the game. In some ways, the questionable status of Green seems to discredit the positive update on Daniels to some degree.
However, a couple of weeks ago when Patterson and Phillips were both indicated as day-to-day and trying to play for Syracuse, Patterson ended up playing in that game and Phillips was back the following week. It seems that when TT conveys optimistic injury updates with a positive tone, he is being truthful. However, when he indicates lukewarm or questionable injury status with negative body language, he is being a bit deceptive and the reality is worse.
For those wondering why David Bailey isn't getting more snaps, TT indicated that the staff has been managing a health-related condition but they hope to increase his snaps going forward.
