I get the point, but the quote is missing the context of the negatively framed question that was asked. Given the question, I don't think there was much else Sinclair could say, short of attempting to gaslight the audience (a la Shaw). His point was not that the team is great now but that the talent exists and the development trend is positive (in ways that are harder to see from the outside.) He wants the young guys to believe that they will have the opportunity to be on a good team if they keep trusting the process that the coaches are leading. Sinclair is showing commitment and leadership in the face of a tough situation.

Sure, the point about the young guys is a detail that Sinclair didn't necessarily need to provide, but it's kind of an obvious detail and one that speaks to his leadership role on the team (which the question specifically referenced.) I don't think his response indicates anything more than is already obvious about the self-doubt that the players are experiencing. If anything, it makes me feel better that Sinclair is continuing to do his best to help his younger teammates keep the faith.
