I was in Elway's class and lived in the fraternity next to his.  I'll bet there was nearly 100% attendance at home football games by fraternity and sorority members at Stanford.  I wonder if the trend towards lower attendance at football games coincides with the campaign at Stanford to eliminate fraternities, sororities, and generally make it difficult to throw parties.

Definitely think there's something to that. The fraternities and sororities would attend in large groups. We would send pledges early to save the best seats. I can recall scanning the student section for the various sororities and there was always a lot of mingling at the game. The games were very social. It's not the same living in a dorm or a theme house.
