The article I saw this in said McKay wouldn't have done that without a bodyguard.

It would have required many more than just one.

One of the great karmic events was McKay having an o for the season  with the Bucs.  Beautiful it was.

I do have to give him some credit though. One of the most non-coachspeak answers ever given (and funny to boot). When asked by a reporter to "comment on his teams execution" McKay responded "I would be in favor of that".  Classic we all remember.

Another good one that demonstrated his love for Stanford was when his son and Pat Haden (teammates and both highly recruited football stars) used to tease him by telling him they were leaning toward going to Stanford. His response was "If it comes down to Stanford and the University of China, we'll see you in Beijing." When asked about his chances of landing John McKay Jr he would say, "Pretty good. I'm sleeping with his mother."
