I agree that we should think of roster management one year at a time rather than getting sucked in to thinking about three year projections for people who will face annual opportunities to leave. The problem I have is that even if we are simply optimizing for 2025 the evidence so far is that Cisse is a better receiver than Williams. I don't think it's a guarantee but if I had to bet I think Cisse would be the better receiver for us next year. Oh well.

I wonder if the coaches feel that way too.
If so and they were just bringing in another guy to strengthen the position perhaps you have to check with your key players to make sure they don't get upset and leave.
Roster management is not easy these days. I guess it is true that if you want a player to stick around you can never stop recruiting him.

The thing left unsaid is that Cisse saw his targets reduced in the second half of the year, for reasons that mostly had to do with the emergence of Mosley but that also had a little bit to do with Tiger and Roush getting a few more targets. I can't put this roster loss solely on TT, as it feels from afar like a guy who thinks he's earned something--maybe being penciled in as the "No. 2 receiver" given Elic's departure to the NFL--when it really needs to be an open competition this spring with the new transfers/frosh (not sure if the elite HS recruit is enroling early or not) for playing time/targets. 

But it's a loss nonetheless, and another reason for pessismism about 2025. 

Big picture, for Stanford's offense to improve under TT there really needs to be a major upgrade at OL. That doesn't appear to be especially close to happening, at least not on paper. We shall see.
