Despite losing their #1 player (Nishesh Basavareddy) to the pro ranks in the fall, Stanford men's tennis has had surprising success so far this season. They knocked off #8 Oklahoma in Norman to advance to the ITA Indoor Nationals. Earlier today they beat 6th ranked Columbia to advance to the semi quarter finals. Tomorrow they face Central Florida (an upset winner over 4th ranked Ohio State).
Men's tennis' only match loss has been on the road to top ranked TCU, 7-0.
We'll see how Stanford does in a very tough ACC which includes 3 teams currently in the top 7, Wake Forest, Virginia and Duke. But this may be Paul Goldstein's best team so far even if they are not NC contenders.
