Win in the bottom of the 11th, 10-9. Bivens got the win with two IP, allowed one run. Verlander continues to look very hittable, giving up three earned runs in 2 1/3rd, although Kruk & Kuip said the plate ump was squeezing calls all day. Doval gave up three unearned runs. Trivino, also hittable, gave up two earned runs. Erik Miller gave up two hits and a walk but got the hitter to hit a fly almost to the fence that Jung Hoo Lee ran down.

Adames, Wade, Bailey, Ramos; three hits each, Chapman, two hits. Had their first error of the season, Fitzgerald. Padres lost, so the Giants are half a game behind them. And the Phillies are beating the Dodgers at home, 3-0 in the 8th.

Throughout the game, the umpire’s strike zone was about the same size as a thimble. Seattle’s last reliever, Vargas, was ridiculously squeezed.  Lee’s catch in center with bases full was a pleasant surprise as he took a rather circuitous route to the ball.

Do you think that was because of the wind as Krukow says here, or because the Grandson of the Wind is an incompetent center fielder...? Serious question...

It was a tiny strike zone...and yet, the Giants still struck out 12 times. The Mariners only struck out eight times. They had six and seven walks respectively.

Padres and Dodgers both lost close games.

I don't see the Verlander experiment working out well, unless he's got another gear. He might have been a victim of the ump's miniscule strike zone. We'll see.

- Austin Slater is doing well for the White Sox (.273/.273/.636/.909). Has a double and HR among three hits, 153 OPS+. I always liked the guy, he's still only 32. Hopefully he gets more playing time.

- Tommy Erdman, playing for the Evil Empire leads MLB in HRs with five, hitting .286/.297/.714/1.012, 183 OPS+. And he doesn't even have a torpedo bat.

- Cal Quantrill had a good spring training (3-0, 1.125 WHIP), and a rough first outing for the Marlins, 4 IP, six earned runs, two HRs.

- Kris Bubic, 1-0 for KC, three hits and two walks in six innings, 0.833 WHIP, 1.75 FIP.

- Nico Hoerner, doing well for the Cubs, .296/.387/.296/.683.

- Kyle Stowers, Miami Marlins, .261/.433/.391/.825, 131 OPS+, doing well at corner OF and DH.
