It wasn’t the school he chose, it was his inability to produce results.  After all, Brock Bowers had no problem producing numbers while playing TE at Georgia.

Sure it was. Oscar Delp was already there. He is slightly bigger than Yurosek. He had already played two years at Georgia before the 2024 season. He played 13 games in 2022 and in 14 games in 2023. Lawson Luckie was also already there. He played in 7 games in 2023. Both players were more highly rated out of high school than Yurosek. Luckie arguably could already do everything Yurosek could. They are virtually the same size but Luckie had three years of eligibility available (in 2024) while Yurosek had one. Unless Yurosek was demonstrably better he wasn't going to get playing time. Both players played "a lot" despite the fact Bowers was clearly the number one tight end in both 2022 and 2023. They both had the advantage they knew the system. Yurosek would need to be demonstrably "better" to have any chance of playing time. That was clearly a bad bet going in.

Yurosek should have gone someplace where the incumbents were probably not as good as he was. Those places may not have been in the running for a national championship, but at least he could get on the field. That may have been hard to do and some risk may have been unavoidable. At Georgia he was arguably outclassed by both the incumbents. He could have done better.
