The lowest scores today have been posted by teams that played in the morning. Maybe the wind is down and the greens are a little softer in the morning. Stanford will play in the morning tomorrow.
While Stanford's players are all fighting the course a bit (none under par), they are doing better than their playing companions #2 and #3 Arkansas and South Carolina, both of which are at +9.
#4 Florida State (ACC champ) is at +7 as is #7 Wake Forest (which knocked out Stanford in the ACC tournament).
The dearth of birdies by Stanford leads me to think that they are struggling with the greens. Maybe with firm greens, some wind and tight pin placements, it's tough to get the ball close to have good looks at birdie.
