In my view, the best kickoff time for Stanford games in September/October is around 5:00 or 5:30 pm. That gives you lots of good tailgating time. It's not too hot in the stadium during the game. And the end of the game is not too late for kids, old people, and people who have long drives to get home.

This year, we have only 3 home games in September/October. Two of them have kickoffs at 7:30 (the third kickoff time is still to be determined). That's too late to be ideal, IMO. But it's better than an early afternoon kickoff in the heat.

It also doesn't sound ideal to sit in the tropical sun in the middle of the afternoon for 3-4 hours in Honolulu. But I'm willing to give it a shot!

As you no doubt know, kickoff times are not determined based on the best time for fans attending the game or to give the home team an advantage or even to benefit fans who want to watch on TV.  It is all a ploy to maximize the amount of inventory throughout the day so as to sell as many ads as possible.
