Let's talk about Donnie Ecker. He was the hitting coach for the Giants for the COVID season (2020) and their incredible 2021 season. When Bochy left, Ecker was one of the first guys they hired. He was hired as bench coach and offensive coordinator.

Here’s what’s interesting. Here’s the SFG and Rangers' performance in “runs per game” for the years prior to, during and after Ecker, measured in rank among 30 MLB teams and runs per game:

2020  8th (4.98 rpg, first year of Ecker)
2021  6th (4.96 rpg, second and last year of Ecker)
2022  11th (4.42 rpg, first year post-Ecker)
