nothing like knowing that a large chunk will transfer after a year to lessen our interest in these outcomes unfortunately.

In the last 2 seasons there was not a single Stanford Women's Basketball player who had both originally matriculated at Stanford and who left the program without graduating from the university. 2023 is becoming more and more of a distant memory.

The hope is that the COVID induced disruption was largely to blame about the spate of departures in the post COVID years and that now the situation has stabilized.  The concern is that 2 years isn’t a long time, the highest profile player did depart before exhausting eligibility (she doesn’t “count” because she graduated first and grad transferred, and the resulting 2025 team didn’t have many high profile players to be poached by a higher profile team.

I was really talking mostly in general terms. Yes for Stanford a player who commits elsewhere likely will never ever play at Stanford bcs of the difficulty even in admitting transfers. But in general more like will she be a MI player or in a year or two elsewhere...general loyalty which to me really harmed until they reinstate the requirement to sit out a year other than in unusual circumstances.
