- Devers' line is extraordinary, easily the worst of his career (.219/.333/.333/.667) . With Boston this year, he was .272/.401/.504/.905. This guy has been an All Star three of the last four years, and was a silver slugger and had MVP votes in the other year.
- Adames is accelerating in the second half, as per usual. Playing a pretty good shortstop, leads NL in SS errors, but also leads in assists, 5th in range factor, 5th in DPs, 5th in putouts, 3rd in games played.
- Chapman leading all third basemen in WAR at 2.9
- Biggest positive surprises: the Schmitt/Fitzpatrick combo is 8th in MLB in WAR, 0.9 and Yaz/whoever in RF is 11th in WAR.
- Expected: Relief pitching, 4th in WAR. Jung Hoo Lee, 18th in CF., team fielding back at 23rd in MLB for Rtot (-23)
- Negative WAR surprises (for me, anyway):

and the biggest surprise and least deserved nickname, Patty Barrels is 26th among MLB catchers at -0.9 WAR. Bailey's progress, now that he's in his third year:

2025 .203/.64/.93/.557, 62 OPS+

8th in defensive WAR in MLB at 1.1. That's good. 3rd in errors by NL catchers, also third in DPs turned and caught stealing, 5th in caught stealing percentage.
