Buddy Teevens can say something similar. In 2004 (his last year), they started out 3-1 with multi-TD victories over Washington, BYU and SJSU; and a three-point loss to #1 USC at Stanford. He had a three-point loss to #23 Arizona, three-point loss to Oregon and a five-point loss to Oregon State. They went 4-7 but had four losses of less than a TD. All that stood between Buddy and an 8-3 record were four TDs, either on offense or defense. But he lost to Cal, 41-6. Nice guys finish up back at Dartmouth -- ultimately with four 9-1 seasons and two 8-2 seasons. And if you visit Dartmouth today, you can see the Buddy Teevens Stadium and the Buddy Teevens Center for Peak Performance. Not bad.
