No, but are championships really trying to identify the best team in the country? If that were the case there should probably be no playoffs at all, just a regular season tally to have the largest sample size possible. Playoffs exist for excitement.
That said, I see your point and think I agree. The sample size is too small and adds too much randomness. Maybe cut it to four teams and make the matches 36 holes each?
