WAR has declined every year. Good fielder. Fielding has improved every year. He's 27.

No.  Bailey is tremendously defensively.  He has shown (first half of ‘24) that he can be a solid hitting catcher.  I’d give him one more year before thinking of making any big move.  Hopefully Jesus Rodriguez can be a decent defensive catcher and provide a RH option.  Bailey is a better hitter left handed. 

Giants have bigger off-season issues.  Beginning with starting pitching.

Actually...let's talk about hitting. Some of you have advocated getting rid of Burrell and basically anyone who has anything to do with hitting (as have I). 

Yaz's case is a stark reminder. Here's his lines this season with two different teams:

SFG: .231/.330/.335/.665
KCR: .282/.370/.654)/1.023

It is extraordinary how much better Yaz is playing for Kansas City. He's hit almost as many HRs in KC (7) in 78 ABs as he did at SF (8) in 321 ABs.

My theory is that four years ago, the Giants were state of the art. Today, they're 25th in MLB (Royals are even worse at 27th) in runs scored per game. In 2021, they finished 3rd in all of MLB in that metric. Last year, the Giants were 17th, before Jung Hoo Lee came back, before they added Adames, before they added Devers. In 2023, the Giants were 24th, and in 2022, the Giants were 11th. I(n 2021, they were 6th in all of MLB at Oracle...and that's an accomplishment. Their road average would have led all of MLB in scoring runs per game.

I think the other teams have not only caught up, but the Giants have become predictable and are (relatively speaking) easy outs. They have predictable patterns. Other teams know them very, very well.

They need a big change.
