Little tiny pushback here. Yes, it was very period-specific. But it was great time, great music, and as Hulk once pointed out, if you could do the dances, it was better than being a front man for a band. And I forget the name of the black singer who said this, but his comment was "It was the last time that black people bought music made by white people." Can concur.
