New York Mets: $341,050,160 buys 83 wins ($4.11 mm/win), eliminated from the playoffs.
At least the Giants missed the playoffs with just over half the salary ($174.7 mm).
Of the top 10 payrolls, the Mets (2), Astros (6), Texans (7), and Braves (8) failed to make the playoffs.
Best deal, by far, was the MLB leading Milwaukee Brewers (97 - 65) for about a third the payroll of the Mets ($116 mm). Honorable mention to the 88-74 Cleveland Guardians, who won the AL Central with a payroll just a shade over $100 mm.
