The best angle had to be by the down judge/linesman and he clearly saw the runner as being well short, placing the ball at the 1/2 yard line. The ref on the other side of the field also had him short.
Lucky not to have this go into overtime. On the long ball Hail Mary that gave them a final chance, they could have done anything other than let him catch the ball and we win easily. If you can't knock the ball down, then just grab the receiver and get a pass interference penalty which would have only been a 15 yard penalty instead of a 53 yard gain. And they don't put time back on the clock for that.
So to then commit pass interference on the next play was maddening (WHY NOT DO THAT ON THE LAST PLAY?!) -- how do you use your hands and grab the entire play and never once look at where the ball might be?
