It is far too early in the season to predict transfers due to lack of play time.  However, it is not too early to hold the opinion that players of the caliber of Eschmeyer and Somfai will likely transfer if they don't see significant playing time on this team this season.

Assertion without evidence.  It is impossible to know what motivates any particular player to play at a particular school.  Yes, some players are going to be heavily influenced by the availability of playing time, and I am sure that if I were, say, UCLA and were looking to replete my roster for 2026 after a bunch of players leave, I would look at high quality players who aren't getting a lot of playing time and see if I could get them to transfer like Betts did (note, while playing time was a contributing factor to Betts' decision to transfer, I think the bigger issue was one of feeling supported and mental health).  But other players might be looking at the value of their degree, or bonds with their teammates, or any one of a gazillion other factors beyond playing time.

A coach is going to need to handle a myriad of different things, and is not simply going to play a player because of some vague concern that they might transfer if they don't get playing time.  The reason to play certain players is because they give us the best chance of winning, and I think for the most part, our high quality freshmen players (Somfai, Eschmeyer, Swain) do that, which is why I expect that generally, they will earn playing time.  Swain and Somfai have started all 5 games for us, while Eschmeyer is averaging 13 minutes a game off the bench.

The important thing to managing potential dissatisfaction with minutes (and there will always be someone who thinks they deserve more minutes than they got) is good communication.  Players become dissatisfied when they view decisions as arbitrary and capricious, but if they understand where they stand and what they need to do to get more minutes, that usually diffuses concerns about playing time.  In today's day and age, it doesn't eliminate the possibility of a transfer of course, but I think the assertion that so and so will transfer unless they see more playing time is way too simplistic.
