(2) I think you imply/allude to the fact that some of these hurdles are 'uniquely more challenging because We Are Stanford'.

(3) In my mind if we are 'self-imposing' non-value-added hurdles (because we are Stanford), that say Duke, Vanderbilt, NotreDame, Cal, GeorgiaTech, Northwestern dont, ....then that is unacceptable & precisely what must change !
